What…Life on Wheels Personal Touch Pre-conferences are geared to the needs of any RV owners who are uncomfortable with the operation of their rigs. Instruction consists of both classroom presentations and individual instruction at owner's RVs. Every participant receives individual instruction in his/her own RV covering operating systems specific to the ownerís RV. No question is too elementary. Please note: Basic maintenance instruction is offered, but there is no instruction on repairing RVs.
Who…Although the pre-conferences are intended for new RV owners, experienced owners may attend if they are uncomfortable with the operation of their rigs. Be aware, however, that instruction is basic and designed for less experienced RVers. Attendees must also be registered for the Life on Wheels conference that immediately follows the pre-conference.
Where…Pre-conferences are held at campgrounds near the college where the main conference is held. Campground fees and registration are the individual’s responsibility.
Details…Pre-conferences open at 4 p.m. two days before scheduled times for the primary conference. Pizza is provided by Life on Wheels. The opening program begins after dinner and includes visits by instructors to individual RVs. Everyone must be registered and parked in the campground hosting the pre-conference by 2:00 p.m. Registrants may not commute from other campgrounds or sites. All registrants must be able to unhook and hook up their RV or tow vehicle. Instructors can not assist in driving RVs, unhooking, or hooking up towables or towed vehicles. Day two begins with donuts and coffee for all participants; this is a full day devoted to group and individual instruction. Dinner the second night is a potluck. Instruction continues after dinner. More donuts and coffee start day three, followed by instruction. At noon, RVs may move to the college parking lots where the main conference is scheduled or stay in the campground.
